Today's work comprised solely of the necessary post work for the guitars on "Familiar." Once the guitars were finished up, we got them sitting real well within the mix of the song so far. Instrumentally speaking, it is sounding absolutely fantastic. Without any further additions to existing songs, this one looks to clock in as the longest song on the record. Interestingly, it's really not long at all. But it feels quite majestic, nonetheless. Oh, you'll just have to hear it along with the other fourteen songs on the album when we are done so you'll know what we are talking about.

With some crisp drums, deliciously creamy bass and a great mix to work with, Joe and I sat down earlier tonight and launched a guitar attack on "Familiar," which is a finalist in the "Best Song to finish the sequencing of an album" category. We're pretty certain it will be the fifteenth and final song on the album, but we'll all just have to wait and see how it plays out, won't we?

Joe established two distinct tones to approach the recordings with, and we came to a conclusion on amp recording/microphone setup. In the end, we got a very, very intense performance that is indicative of what the song demands of Joe's guitar. In a word, perfect.

'Wide Awake' bass re-recorded.

Part of the afternoon today was spent re-recording bass for 'Wide Awake' which has proven to be this album's slightly difficult song to work on. By slightly difficult we simply mean this song is one we haven't been able to just put the microphones up, hit record, get the performance, do the post work and be done with it. This song needs some finesse in its approach that we're really having to call upon in our abilities to get it to sound just right. What is just right? We'll know it when we hear it, which was in our reference version we recorded some time ago. When we recapture that, we'll know we've got it.

There's not much there at this time, but if you are interested in our band, perhaps you should look for us on Facebook because it's all the rage these days. Well, at the very least, it's where a large contingency of people aged 18-49 are frequenting. Whatever that means.

Anyway, much of the recording session info posted here, I try to post on Facebook, although the only way I can legitimately list it is if I make it an "event," so that's how that goes. Of course we can't really invite anyone over for that, because nothing would get done, recording wise. We'd be too busy playing host, getting people drinks and making snack platters for everyone to enjoy.

'BTSSNY' guitars recorded.

Tonight, we laid down several guitars tracks for what can only be called 'BTSSNY' at this time. There's a very good chance the song will end up with that title by the time the album is prepped and ready for release. Is it an acronym? Does it have something to do with 'New York'? Please, don't ask, because we don't even know.

Anyway, the guitars are on the track. They sound thick and are sitting well in the mix at the moment. Post work will be done over the weekend. This will be shaping up quite well.

Saturday was spent working on numerous guitar tracks for a song called "Full Moon," which we've performed live at our last few shows. It was pretty electric sounding with just the drums and bass in there, but now that the cascading guitars are in... yes, we're happy to put another song in the "instrumentally finished" side of things.

All the post work was done on this song over Sunday and Monday, leaving four remaining songs that have guitar work to record. Beyond that, it's final sounds and noises, vocals and mixes.

The next song is scheduled for guitar work on Thursday.

While we haven't published an entry here since Thanksgiving, it has been a whirlwind of activity since then.

A journalist from Cardiff, Wales wrote a brief but kind review of the band. It is something we are very thankful for.

We had to recharge a bit around Thanksgiving. It's tough trying to work through the holidays when you're already working a day job. Once we were able to get through Christmas, we kicked everything into high gear.

All the main bass and keys work was completed between Christmas and New Year's Day. Since then, another four songs have had guitar recorded with all post work completed. Previous songs requiring post work (amounting to an additional four songs) were completed as well. This brings our current total of songs ready for vocals to eleven. Two more songs are on the schedule for this week, while the last two are scheduled for next weekend (February 6 and 7) and into the following week.

Yes, this would finish all instrumental parts for our new album. With only vocals and mixes left, we could conceivably have this album completed in early March. Time will tell, but judging by our very productive pace at this point, it's looking good.

Working on 'Apparition'

This past week, we had been doing some more work on 'Apparition,' just trying to finalize and incorporate every possible piece of music we're looking to get in the song.

Everything is sounding great on the song. Apologies for the lack of updates, but there has been a bit of sickness sapping energy for weeks now.

The fine folks over at Indiefeed have once again found a song of ours much to their liking, in the form of "Ice On The Equator" from our 2008 album, 'Conjure'.

You can follow the link here directly to the Indiefeed page that features "Ice On The Equator."

You should listen to the feed in its entirety, because you get to hear them introduce the song (something we always find cool, I mean, come on, right?) and at the very end there is just a bit of reveal about "Ice On The Equator." We always prefer everyone to take what they wish from our music, rather than us force a template of feeling onto the listener. But this one time, mostly because the folks at Indiefeed are truly, truly wonderful people and because we know people who know our music want the stories behind songs, well, you at least get where the title is from. Satisfied? No? Sigh.

We were faced with some adversity before going onstage last Saturday night at The Square Apple, but as we usually tend to do, we persevered without so much as a second thought about it all.

Weeks ahead of time, we were told our advantage to performing last was there were no time constraints, although we kept the set vibrant and immediate anyway. The set list is below:

It's here and it's happening. Our next show is tonight, Saturday, September 19 and it is happening in support of the Neon Reverb Festival at Square Apple (1000 E.Sahara #105 just west of Maryland Parkway, across from Commercial Center). The show begins at 7pm with Asterionella, with Calicos going on at 8pm. Then at 9pm, we will take the stage with about a dozen songs for everyone.

We are really looking forward to playing this show at this venue. It's going to be a memorable one. Oh and in case you were curious, the show's admission is absolutely, 100% FREE. All you have to do is show up and support these three bands with your ears and applause for a few hours. We hope to see you there.

Because of the upcoming show at Square Apple on Saturday, September 19th at 9pm, we've been rehearsing quite a bit.

The first few rehearsals were just to refresh a bit, throwing all kinds of songs in the mix and see what makes it out the other side. But the last couple of rehearsals we've gotten the set list figured out and sequenced for the show.

We'll be doing this right up to Friday before the show and after that, we'll head into the final stretch of music to be recorded for the album before we start doing vocals.

Well, yeah, the updates have slowed down, but the music making has not. It's just been a very busy two weeks here and apologies for not updating as frequently as necessary.

In the past two weeks we've worked extensively on a song called "Change Your Mind," which is a real centerpiece for the album, we believe. It really showcases our songwriting ability, something we feel has grown considerably with each album, each new song. We dig it, we hope you will too.

Beyond that, we've laid down some other guitar tracks, finalized the music for "When You Lose" which awaits vocals now...oh and just got the bass done for a song that reminds me of something themed in a military fashion. No, it doesn't have a marching percussive sound, it's just got a certain feel to it that is difficult to explain, so I will leave it at that.

Hot on the heels of getting the bass recorded and the post work done the other day, Joe was able to come in and record his guitars for "I Swear, I Swear." Once again, he completed owned the session, recording his parts very efficiently yet with tremendous energy and punctuation throughout.

This is all we're doing through the weekend, as we have some gear upgrades that need to be attended to.

The rhythm guitars for "Apparition" were laid down first, which just scream out of the speakers. It's like syrup and butter melting all over pancakes, really. Or a really good waffle. The way it collects in each little square. Delicious.

Between the rhythms melting gorgeously throughout, Joe had some ideas for secondary guitars that just complements everything so well. The rhythm guitars would have been enough, really. But the secondary parts just push this one over the top. Lush and exquisite.

Joe stepped into the studio tonight, ready to work and he nailed the guitars down for "Wasteland" like he's been playing the song for 25 years.

Just a terrific groove in this song, the guitars providing great interplay with the distinctive piano line. Short, punchy, lively and to the point. This song showcases it all in a very abbreviated amount of time.

Bass for "I Swear, I Swear" was recorded today, as well as the post work for the part. A very nice sound going on in this song, the bass and drums gluing together quite handsomely.

What makes me terribly fond of this song is the fact we were able to write so many disparate parts into the song and have them fit together so well -- in under three minutes and fifteen seconds, no less.

Moving things along quickly, Joe and I sat down today and knocked out guitars for "History" which sound just incredible. The guitars are definitely the muscular part of the song and the recording of them earlier today confirmed just that.

That makes two in two days, we're going to shoot for a few more this week, but the weekdays are always slower for getting work done.

Preparing for the part of the recording process where we finally get to introduce Joe's guitar work to the songs, we had mapped out numerous combinations of amplifiers, microphones, placement, etc.

What was finally settled upon, was an interesting "triangle" configuration which utilizes several amplifiers and microphones blending tight-mic'd and room angle placement. Yes, I know this is getting technical, but I am trying to keep it as humanely simple as possible so you do not fall asleep here.

Anyway, it produces a sound that is most definitely something we are looking to achieve. Surely you will all like the sound once it is all said and done.

Today, as with each previous instrument's introduction to the recording process, we began with "When You Lose" which sounds remarkable now that we are a mere vocal track away from completion on this one.

Earlier this week, I was able to record the bass lines for a new fast-sounding song. This song was definitely written with performing it live in mind, as it is always one that gets our adrenaline flowing wherever we feature it during our set list.

Right now, we've been able to finish the necessary post work on the song, so there's one more ready to go when Joe gets to it on his guitar recording schedule. Everything is moving along, now if I could just get a little more time in the studio, we'll be in even better shape as we move into August.

A very heavy song that is made heavier as each new instrument is recorded for it. "Infatuation" is pretty loud and imposing when performed live and it is living up to its reputation as we record the studio version. Relentless drums, thundering bass...then in several weeks we'll be adding Joe's guitars when it comes up on the schedule? This song will crush everything in its path.

Sometimes, things go well and other times you think they go well and upon reflection, there's just something not quite achieved that you were striving for. That was the case here, as there had been some solid bass recorded around a week ago for this song, but for whatever reason, upon revisiting it, it just didn't feel right.

No point in forcing the issue, just re-record it, right? That is just what we did. In its place, is exactly what we're looking for in tone and note duration. The feel of the song, if you will.

This song is shaping up nicely. It's starting to sound like something recorded in or around 1980. This is a very good thing to recognize.

Lots of post work for the song to get it to sit just right, but as always, the patience and time have proved fruitful and absolutely worth the effort.

Of course I'm going to find something positive and out of this world to say about every song we record. If we as a band didn't feel that way about every song, then we should be doing something else.

"Wasteland" just sounds remarkable. Another short, very much to the point kind of song for us. The piano really drives the song and the bass is complementing it quite well at this point. We really can't wait until this song has the guitar and vocals recorded and mixed in.

Well, here's another day gone with another bass line done. This song is one that really brings some different kind of emotion out of me when we perform it live. I can't really describe the exact emotion; it just comes from a different place. Perhaps it's a recollection, a nostalgia, something sentimental to me -- I can't place it, I really can't. All I know is it's an emotion I hope never becomes lost. Its value to me is irreplaceable.

Productivity rules. While tweaking sound for what seemed like an eternity -- as if anyone really knows what eternity feels like as it is currently going on -- I was able to capture the feel we were searching for in the bass sound today for this particular song. Once that was done, it took 15 minutes to record the bass for the entire song.

Post work was also started and finished on this song today as well. On to the next song...

This is some interesting news to bring to you: Anna-Lynne Williams, of Trespassers William has recently recorded a cover version of "Stolen" from our album Conjure.

She has been recording songs as a solo artist for some time now under the moniker Lotte Kestner. Her myspace page -- which at the time of this writing, features "Stolen" as the first song in her song list -- can be found here.

Ms. Williams possesses a remarkable gift in the world of music: A distinct voice and vision. She is rivaled perhaps only by Chan Marshall and Nina Simone as someone who can take another person's song and place their personal stamp on it. This is what I felt upon first hearing Ms. Williams' recording of "Stolen". Please visit her site and check out her interpretation of the song.

Piano and bass guitar were worked out for "When You Lose" this morning and recorded during the afternoon. All the post work was completed later, with the session going relatively late into the evening. This song has come together very fast; hopefully that quick start will act as a harbinger of good things to come.

"City Song" is finished (the drums, anyway) and it's been a crazy six weeks. I would have never imagined some of the post production tools we have now would allow us to get this deep into the recordings this fast.

Now we can get started on the other instrumentation. At this rate, we are on schedule to get this album out and in your hands before this year is over. While that may seem like a long time, it will be here before you know it.

Our 15th and final song for our recording sessions, "City Song," has had its drums recorded over the weekend and it is now getting some post work done.

Getting to this point in the recordings ahead of July, it really is a testament to the dedication and truly hard work put forth by everyone involved. If this can get finished up during the week -- I anticipate this song will take some time to work on -- perhaps we can begin recording/post work on some of the other instruments.

We recorded this one what seems like an eternity ago (really, it's been maybe three weeks) and after the whirlwind recording of "City Song" yesterday, we got a chance to put "Apparition" up on the board and begin drum post work on it late last night. Well, that got finished just a little while ago, which means the only song left to do any serious drum post work on is "City Song" which should begin on Tuesday night.

In recording drums for "City Song" today, we did something we couldn't have dreamed possible at the beginning of the year: Record drums for fifteen songs in five weeks. Add to that the drum post work, which right now stands at 13/15 finished -- you wouldn't want to know the work this entails -- and we are really making strong headway into this album.

Today, the drums were finalized for "Familiar," which is a good thing heading into tomorrow. Because tomorrow will be the day we will record drums for "City Song," the 15th and final song we will be working on in the sessions for this new album.

Today was a day of feeling just completely worn out. But you've got to keep the momentum going forward any way possible. With that said, "Reinforcements" which was just recorded yesterday, had its drum post work started and finished up today. That one came together very nicely.

Oh and to bring about a change of pace, the beloved M-Tron Pro was installed today, which came all the way from the UK this past week. Initial testing showed it is working well. Perhaps tomorrow we'll get an opportunity to run it through the controller and amplifier for a while.

A song that has been percolating in our brains for some time -- let's just call it "Reinforcements" for now -- had finally gotten fleshed out a few months ago and it's become a song we all really enjoy rehearsing and performing live. Naturally, we've decided it is something we should record. Fast forward to today and David has come through on drums once again, bringing everything he's got to the song. It took a few more takes than usual, but we ended up with some crackling drums as a result.

"Wide Awake," drums for which were recorded just the other day, is now finished in terms of its post drum work. This is what happens when you work really, really hard and sometimes fall asleep in the studio because you are too tired to leave. But the results are worth it all.

David came over early this morning and knocked out "Familiar" and "Wide Awake" on drums.

"Familiar" is a song we have opened a number of our more recent shows with and it could very easily lead off our new album, but we have other ideas up our sleeve in that regard.

"Wide Awake" is a raw burst of energy that was written scarcely a month ago. The song just explodes with emotion and power. Very captivating to us. This song is so new, it was not even in the discussion stages for the album yet now it bears strong consideration.

More post work was finished on the drums for "I Swear, I Swear" as well.

Today, a very interesting little song called, "I Swear, I Swear" will be up on the boards getting some work done on the drum recordings we made for it yesterday. Another incredible effort from David on drums on this song.

We are getting closer and closer to getting all drums recorded and all the post work done on them. We now stand at 11 out of 15 songs recorded (remember, just the drums) and the post work stands at 8 out of those 11. If this song gets finished later tonight, that will give us 9 out of 11 out of 15, if that makes any sense. Basically, we are moving at a very accelerated, inspired rate of speed.

This has been a busy day. Drum post work was completed for "Change Your Mind" this evening and we were able to corral David into the studio to lay down the drums for a terrific new song entitled, "I Swear, I Swear," which we've gotten some great response for from a number of people.

It took several takes, as there are a great number of changes in the song that are quite abrupt (just in relation to the drums), but in the end, David handled it in superb fashion and we've got yet another song with some staggeringly good drums.

Man oh man. This song isn't very long -- it's a little over two and a half minutes -- but these drums are as intense as the surface of the sun, it seems. Anyway, the post work for the drums of "New Dub" is finally complete and sounding like a drummer possessed. David's work continues to impress and seemingly get better and better the further we go.

A time none of us were even alive for yet. Surely, that statement should not make any sense, but really, it does.

These drums just don't stop sounding incredibly strong, efficient, powerful, economical. The balance in a song like this just teeters on the brink of too much and too little all at once. So much space exists between notes, yet each note is primal and powerful when they speak. It's quite a thing to marvel at, from an engineering standpoint.

Well, "BTSSNY" is now complete for its drum work. Time to move on to the next one.

Drums recorded for a new, fast song.

There is a very fast, quick moving song we've written which we are quite fond of. It's believed to bear the title, "Curious Goods" but I am unsure if Joe has completely set the title in stone yet.

Regardless, it currently owns the fastest BPM of the songs we've begun recordings on thus far. Hence our reference to it as being a new, fast song.

Again, we are dealing with some huge drums from David on this song. What we've recorded is just incredibly intricate, detailed and rich in sound. It's like a damn fine cup of coffee, except it's going to scald and burn your mouth if you're not careful with it.

Tonight, the final work on the drums for "Infatuation" was completed. This song is going to sound incredibly powerful once we've added all the other instruments.

OK, we don't have a name for this song we love very much. Our working title within the band for the purpose of identification, is simply, "BTSSNY." Don't ask...

David came over for his Saturday morning session and within a few takes we had the drums captured exactly how we wanted them. This song has become a signature song, well, at least for us when we play it live. We never can tell what everyone else thinks of it. All we know is, the song just unites us towards the end of our set, if any sense can be made of that.

Final drum post work on this song should take place over the next few days.

Tonight was a success, David came in and we got his drums recorded for "Wasteland" which is a song that has come together for us in the last few months.

It's been kicking around at a few of the shows we've done in the recent past, but the shape of the song and the drums themselves have finally emerged fully formed, ready for us to record for this new album.

We are all very fond of this song, but we like them all very much, so I guess that doesn't reveal very much. This song is very piano driven. Is there such a thing as a piano lick? If so, this song may possess just such a thing. I'm really not very good with the nomenclature of it all.

Alright, so we have this little song called "Infatuation," right? Well, it's not so little, it's actually really, really huge sounding.

It makes sense to record something in a bold way if it demands it. David's drums are something one doesn't often come across in this world. The work he does demands to be recorded boldly.

So here we are, having recorded some bold drums and the finished work on them tonight is representative of what he does. Well, the drums aren't completely finished, but very, very close. More on this over the weekend.

Well, there wasn't much time to do a whole lot tonight, but what little time there was invariably got put to good use. "Erase Marks" has some incredibly sweet drums completed for it now as a result of that work.

If we can keep this pace up, we could very well have all the drums for the as-yet-unnamed album finished in five weeks. That is a great goal, getting the drums wrapped up by July 1st.

Tonight was set aside for post work on the drums for "Erase Marks," a song we've played a number of times live which we've been looking forward to hearing a recorded version for.

Dave, as usual, delivered a knockout recording of his drums for the song and since the electric piano was recorded as well, we're in good shape to get the rest of the song put together pretty quickly.

Most of what was necessary to put the drums to bed has been done, so there's maybe 30 minutes worth of detail to look over, which will take place Monday night...

Finished up some post work on the drums for "History" which sounds powerful. Began the post work on the drums for "Erase Marks" which will take time on and off during the coming week. At that point, post can begin on the drums for "Infatuation." That song is heavy to begin with and if the drums so far are any indication, it will catch people by surprise. This week has been another busy one, working on existing tracks and arrangements. Tonight, though, we were able to corral Dave into the studio to record drums for a song called "Infatuation."

Some of the long-fretted over upgrades in the studio are paying dividends now, with Dave's work on the drums sounding identical in power, force and emotion to what we are hearing live as it's being recorded. This song will be quite heavy once it is complete and we like the sound of that.

It has been a busy week with us here in our recording studio, Six Of One.

Wednesday, we got electric piano and drums recorded for "Erase Marks." Friday, the drums for "When You Lose" were recorded, while this morning we knocked out drums for "History."

Obviously, these songs have a long way to go (not to mention the other dozen songs we wish to record), but not bad for five days worth of work when you're dealing with a band that has to work 40-hour-a-week day jobs on top of it all.

Tomorrow will find us in the studio for a while, working on one or more of the aforementioned songs.

Earlier this week, we were graciously invited to participate in a live radio performance and interview for KPMW WILD 105.5 FM out of the beautiful state of Hawaii. DJ Michael McCartney had recently been exposed to the Bleachers' music and has been playing "Ice On The Equator," "Gargoyle" and "Stolen" on his show, with "Stolen" being the runaway favorite.

We were on very short notice for the live radio performance and unfortunately our drummer David was unable to be present. The remaining Bleachers, Joe and Marco, performed "Stolen" from Conjure, along with "History" and "Wasteland" from our upcoming record which we hope to have finished and out there in the world by this year's end.

The interview covered everything from influences on our songwriting, to interests outside music and well, David. Since he wasn't there. The guy was a flat out mystery, as far as Mr. McCartney was concerned and wanted to know all about him.

Yesterday, we spent some time working out an idea based on a song whose origins began in 1939, but is better known from a version which appeared 25 years later.

Influences can come from anywhere in time. The beauty of it all is finding the purpose it has for you.

We've just barely begun working out pieces and the feel for this song, but it is already quite interesting to us in its current state. Hopefully, we can find our way to a complete song and present it to everyone at our live shows as the year progresses.

It's Saturday, March 14, 2009, the third evening during Las Vegas' Neon Reverb Music Festival. We had heard a number of bands had been received warmly thus far during the first two evenings of the festival and we were looking forward to performing for everyone at 11p.m at the Beauty Bar during the third slot of the night.

Thankfully, we had arrived early enough to be notified of a last minute line-up change Mr. Woodbridge (the co-founder of the festival) needed our assistance with: "Would it be possible for you guys (The Bleachers) to perform at 10p.m. instead? You'd be the opening act."

We mulled it over and decided it would be a great thing. To open the evening's performances? It was our pleasure to kick off the music for the night. It was a no-brainer, really.

Everyone hurriedly set up gear, took care of the sound check and within 15 minutes, we were performing our opening song, tentatively titled "When You Lose."

As the set unfolded, the crowd became considerably larger and the rapturous applause after each song brought out an even more ferocious intensity in our music.

We did have several more songs ready to perform that night. Time, though, was of the essence for the festival and sadly, we had to cut our performance.

Regardless, the Neon Reverb show, for us, will go down as one of our favorites. One of the best, most enthusiastic crowds we've ever had the pleasure of performing for. Everyone there made it a truly memorable event for us, one we won't soon forget.

Thank you to everyone for coming out and making Neon Reverb a success. Not only for us, but for Las Vegas, as well.

Las Vegas Citylife is currently running its "Best of the Valley" survey for 2009. If you scroll down to category 42, you will find The Bleachers as one of the nominees for best local band.

It's an honor for us to be nominated. We work very hard on our music and are quite meticulous about it. But we do those things because we love music and hope the songs we create stir your emotions the way artists we admire have affected us with theirs.

We can't make any campaign pledges other than this: Win or lose, recognition or lack thereof, we will continue to write songs and record music because the desire to do so burns brighter now than ever before.

The Bleachers have made arrangements to perform live at the 2009 Neon Reverb Music Festival. The band was honored to have an invitation extended to them by the curators of the festival and it was a very easy decision to make.

Obviously, it is still several months away, but the band is tentatively scheduled to perform live at The Beauty Bar on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 10pm with Say Hi, Telekinesis and Transfer.

This is a major music event not to be missed. We will be bringing the music and it will be loud. Be ready.

It's almost here. The time for us to begin recording is happening very soon. Rough-around-the-edges reference versions of the songs we wish to record will likely occur this Monday, January 12.

There are plans for 13 songs to be recorded for this album. We may record some others, but the album will most likely feature 13 songs. This has already been whittled down from 19 possible songs.

We're very, very excited to be heading back into the world of recording. There is something magical about using all kinds of different microphones to record music. It's our hope to bring this record to everyone later this year. We will work very hard to make that happen.

This year was the best ever for The Bleachers. We released our second full-length album, 'Conjure,' played the most shows ever to date and found our way onto the cover of Las Vegas Citylife.

We've picked up more fans from around the world; Germany, Japan, the UK, to name a few. Our music is available on and also in compact disc form straight from our own website.

We wish to thank our families and those who listen to our music for allowing us to continue making records and performing live, which is something we dreamed about years ago and is a reality for us now.

In this week's issue of Las Vegas Citylife, there is an article entitled 'Survival of the Fittest.' The article's angle is to highlight a number of bands in Las Vegas who are thriving, while the music industry on a national level, is crumbling.

Each band mentioned could only be encapsulated with a mere paragraph (or this article could have been quite long and tedious, obviously), but what a paragraph it was when it came time to write about The Bleachers.

This Wednesday night, at 10pm, The Bleachers will perform live at Beauty Bar on Fremont St. in downtown Las Vegas.

We are opening for Ours, who are on tour with Plain Jane Automobile. This is our first time back at Beauty Bar since 'Suspicion' and we are really looking forward to the show.

A few items of note: Ladies, our Wednesday night show at Beauty Bar also happens to coincide with their Ladies drink free until 11pm promotion, so make sure you arrive early and take advantage of getting some good liquor at a good price -- free.

Also, with it being so late in the year, this upcoming Wednesday night show will likely be our last of the year, as well as our last show for the immediate future: our interests lie in bringing everyone a brand-new, full-length album for 2009 and if we are to follow through on our intent, we must begin recording soon. So, aside from the random show opportunity here or there that cannot be passed up, we probably won't play much until the spring of 2009. But the payoff will be a new album.

In the current week's issue of The Las Vegas Weekly, the feature story was "50 things you'd better be thankful for!"

Upon perusal of the feature, number 36 on the list read, "Comforting Certainties: The R-J will stake out op-ed positions delightfully irrelevant to life in Las Vegas; local band The Bleachers will make terrific music; Oscar (Goodman, Las Vegas mayor) will be Oscar."

It seemed very odd to be grouped with politics, but really, the point is we were mentioned and we'll take it! It should be noted, there were no other local-based bands mentioned in the list, which made us feel quite exclusive, to say the least.

"Country House" on Area 108.

This past Sunday night, they got it right: "Country House" debuted on Area 108 during the local music show.

So, it took two-plus years and our second full-length CD before it happened, but we've finally cracked Las Vegas radio. The irony of it all is that we were on college radio from coast to coast when we released 'Suspicion' yet we couldn't find a station to play us here in our hometown.

Regardless, there's always turnover at radio stations and new people with new outlooks on music come in and that's how change happens. So we are very, very pleased that Joe at 107.9 took to liking our album enough to play us. Hopefully, we'll become a weekly staple on the show. But that can only happen if you help! Call or e-mail the station and request "Country House" or anything you want to hear from 'Conjure' for that matter and hopefully they'll begin working us into the show more and more.

Conjure Reviewed: Rebel Yell 11/17/08

No, it's not a Billy Idol fanzine reviewing 'Conjure', rather, it is the University of Nevada-Las Vegas newspaper which just gave our new album some praise. You can read the entire review here.

I will paraphrase some of the best bits, which include "Ice On The Equator" being referred to as a controlled explosion of sound and the latter of the two "Skeleton" songs bearing a melody reminiscent of a haunting tune in an old music box.

Little by little, the word about us is getting out there.

We were assured via e-mail a song from 'Conjure' would blast from radios all over Las Vegas on Area 108's local show at 10pm last Sunday night.

That didn't happen.

We really couldn't understand what was going on with the show that night, quite frankly. It was perplexing to say the least.

But if you check their website here you will see they have listed us by name as part of their "three for all" where they debut three new artists/songs on the show.

Confirmation has arrived! The next Bleachers performance will be at The Beauty Bar here in Las Vegas, Wednesday, December 10 at 10pm SHARP. This will likely be the LAST Bleachers show of the year, so come out and support us!

There are several bands coming in from out of town and we will be the opening act. Our time may be limited to around 30 minutes or so, it is quite important to be there on time if you wish to see our entire set.

In addition to this being quite likely the last show of this year, it is unknown when we will play live next year. We have been writing quite a few songs (if you've been to the shows since the summer, you've heard a number of them) and once we resolve some studio software issues and recording gear updates, we will most likely be recording all through the first few months of the year.

Next Bleachers Performance: 11/5/08 Target Las Vegas

It took a little while to pin an exact date down, but it is 100% confirmed: The Bleachers next live performance will take place at 8pm SHARP, Wednesday, November 5 at the Target Store on the corner of Flamingo Rd. and Maryland Pkwy. in Las Vegas.

If you are familiar with the store at all, it has been under heavy remodel virtually the entire year. Now that they are completely done with their remodel, they are having a grand re-opening event on 11/05/08. They've asked us to be their special guests and perform for one hour.

We rocked out the Apple store and now we are going to make Target rock.

Look, you can come see us play live at 8pm sharp, then when we are done at 9pm, you can walk twenty feet in any direction and you're shopping at Target, the coolest department store around. How's that for convenience?

When you walk in to come see us, we'll be at the back area of the store, from what we understand. In the seasonal area. Either we'll be surrounded by pumpkins or christmas trees or both for all we know, depending on what season they've got going on November 5th.

The 10/18/08 Apple Store performance came off in stunning fashion. Everyone at Apple was extremely warm and gracious, with special thanks to Tara and Andy. They made us feel very welcome and it assisted us in giving everyone a damn fine show to remember.

We performed a 15-song set, an hour of music, with several songs from Conjure we haven't played recently and a whole bunch of new songs earmarked for recording in the near future.

There should be a song or two in video form which should show up on myspace soon, plus some more pictures like the one included here.

Just a reminder to everyone out there, our performance at the Apple store in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops is this Saturday, 10/18/08 at 8pm SHARP.

If you haven't stopped by there yet, take a look at the enclosed picture. They've been promoting us with this wonderful easel display in their store for two weeks now.

The Apple Store/Caesars Palace Forum Shops 10/18/08

It's less than two weeks away! Our performance at The Apple Store in the Caesars Palace Forum Shops is on Saturday, October 18, at 8pm. From what we've been told, there's already an easel/banner/placard setup of some kind in the main window at The Apple Store promoting our upcoming performance. That's incredibly cool.

What makes this such a big event for us is simple: Apple is the largest retailer of music, period. We're playing at one of their stores. If we get a really strong crowd and positive reception, this can only lead to good things for us.

To entice each and every one of you to come out and support us, we are going to be playing what is going to amount to almost a "double" show. We have been working from a list of songs at rehearsal that is in the neighborhood of 25 songs. Now, we are most likely not going to perform 25 songs, but that is how many potential songs we have for the performance. It will likely be whittled to 20 songs or just a few less, but when you realize a performance of ours usually contains anywhere from 8 to 12 songs, this is very nearly a double show.

We had a wonderful amount of support from our fans the last time we performed there. But we know there are more of you out there. Two weeks from today, we will once again perform in the Courtyard at House of Blues for the Acoustic Strip show hosted by the inimitable Michael Soli. The date is 10/02/08 at 9 p.m.

We've been rehearsing our set a bit differently to accommodate the acoustic (or semi-acoustic) nature of the show. We will have a few familiar songs and some not so familiar. It would be our pleasure to see you there.

What an interesting evening for us.

We performed in the final slot for the evening for First Friday here in Las Vegas on the Land Rover Stage. The bands performing before us -- we saw part of one band's show and most of the performance of the band immediately prior to us -- certainly fulfilled the promise of diversity amongst musical styles presented for the evening.

It should be noted while we felt somewhat awkward with the seemingly mawkish nature of First Friday in general, we approached the performance as a challenge to win over people right in front of us, to those 200 feet away at a barbecue stand.

It appeared to work: we had more people approach us than we've had in a number of performances, many positing we couldn't possibly be a local band from here in Vegas. Again, the negative connotation associated with the word "local" when referencing original music groups in Las Vegas rears its head. Someday, we hope to lay to rest the stigma associated with a band being from Las Vegas. Maybe it began --in modest fashion -- with our performance this past Friday.

We will be performing on the Land Rover Stage (located at Casino Center Blvd. and Colorado St.) promptly at 9pm this Friday, September 5th, as the closing act for the evening.

Even though we've been consistently playing shows since late May in support of our new album Conjure, you are missing out if you aren't in attendance Friday night. Why, you may ask? Because we've got three brand new songs worked into our set that have been written recently which are strong candidates to make the final cut for our next full-length album.

We've talked about this show for a month now and it's finally here: Tuesday night, September 2nd at 10pm sharp, The Bleachers will perform live at The Hard Rock Hotel's brand new club, Wasted Space.

From everything we've heard, admission is $10 per person, but ladies get in FREE. That's a damn fine deal if ever there was one.

Also on the bill for the evening is Lips Like Morphine and The Skooners. Three bands, a couple hours of music and ladies get in FREE.
